Third Act’s year-long campaign demanding the Big 4 Dirty banks (Chase, Wells Fargo, Citibank, and Bank of America) divest from fossil fuels is drawing to a close. Our demands have been met with silence, so it’s time we take bigger actions to match the gravity of our dire planetary crisis. There’s no time to waste! In the words of the inimitable Bill McKibben, we must stop burning stuff now, and so Third Act is calling for a National Day of Action on March 21, 2023 (yes, that’s 3.21.23!).

Washington DC will be one of Third Act’s main targets on this big day, and Third Actors and their partners from VA, DC, and MD will come together to show and tell the Big 4 Dirty banks the error of their ways. We invite you to join our elder-led action! Pick and choose, or come to everything.

Brief Synopsis of the Event

• March 20 at 2pm: Vigil starts with rocking chairs rocking in front of all 4 dirty banks and continues for 24 hours.
• March 21 from 8 - 10am:
  • NVDA training and breakfast.
  • Interfaith community meets at Franklin Park for an informal service.
• 10am: Official start to the event. March of Hope starts at the park and slowly marches 3 blocks, stopping at each of the 4 dirty banks to sing, chant, etc.
• 10:45am: Rally at the park includes front line speakers, music, theater and lunch.
• 12:30pm: March of Action boldly begins, stops at the 4 dirty banks and culminates at the Wells Fargo and Chase intersection.
• 1:15pm finale features a Rocking Chair Rebellion, chalk art, music, puppets and more.
