Baton Rouge Climate Strike

Start: Friday, September 27, 201910:00 AM

End: Friday, September 27, 2019 2:00 PM

The Baton Rouge location of the global strike actions on Fridays, inspired by Swedish teenage activist Greta Thunberg, in which students and workers all over the world go out on strike to demand action to reduce CO2 emissions and other human causes of climate change. Louisiana is one of the world's major petroleum processors, and BR is the state capital, so we owe it to the world to take action to reverse our dirty way of life.

How this action came about. This action started with a strike on Friday, September 20, 2019, attended by about 50 people, mostly LSU students, plus some LSU faculty and staff and other members of the community. Channel 9 news reported on it. A group of students attending that day decided to carry on with ongoing actions.

If you think you don’t have time for this, and if you love children, let me ask you this. Do you have time to save their lives? Is that too melodramatic? If you don’t know much about the climate emergency, or you don’t know if it’s real, or you don’t know if it’s important, you might want to take a look at this: Rebellion.Earth/the-truth/the-emergency.

If you're going to come, please don't drive to it, because that doesn't make sense, does it? Please come by bicycle, bus, or on foot. That might be inconvenient, but not as inconvenient as trying to live through a climate catastrophe! I'll be riding my bike ten miles to get there.

See you on Friday?
