Become a Legal Observer! Help save lives!

Start: Saturday, August 26, 2017 1:00 PM

End: Saturday, August 26, 2017 3:00 PM

Across California, I.C.E. agents are striking unpredictably, dragging mothers and fathers into vans as their children watch their lives fall apart. As of this writing, Trump is considering trashing DACA. If he does this, 750,000 children -- who only came out of the shadows because the government offered them help -- will suddenly be exposed to immediate deportation.

The good news? We have the power to help. Becoming a legal observer takes only an hour, and qualifies you to take careful records of any police or I.C.E. activity you see, whether it's a raid, a protest, a march or a routine arrest. As a legal observer, your presence alone can make a difference - helping to insure no one's human rights are violated... and that if they are, justice is served.

Training to be provided by Ameena Mirza Qazi, Executive Director of the National Lawyers Guild LA, which established its Legal Observer Program in 1968, and now provides hundreds of trainings across America every year. Its slogan: “Because human rights are more important than property rights.” Apolonio Morales, Political Director at CHIRLA, will speak about the current political climate and the institutional threats aimed at immigrant communities. Hosts Nina Rosser and Jason Berlin, with Organizing For Action, will moderate a Q&A session after the training.

Under the Trump administration immigrants’ rights are under attack. We must do everything we can to protect our most vulnerable populations. This legal observer training will help to do that, turning caring allies into empowered activists.

Free limited parking on-site. Accessible facility. And if that's not enough - this free training comes with free snacks, including homemade chocolate chip cookies. What more could you want?
