What’s at stake in Virginia? Fair Maps, Voting Rights, the ERA, and setting the tone for 2020!

Virginia’s legislative and congressional districts were last drawn in 2010 by Republicans, and are racially gerrymandered, drawn to disenfranchise African-American voters. On top of restrictive voter ID laws, early registration deadlines, and barriers to absentee voting, Virginia also imposes a ban on voting rights for people convicted of a felony which disproportionately impacts African-Americans of voting age. And on top of that, last session, the GOP-controlled House of Delegates prevented state Democrats from voting to become the 38th and final state needed to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.

There’s not doubt that a win in Virginia will build momentum for blue wins in 2020.
