Want to learn to bird-dog the candidates like a pro?
On Thursday, September 12, NHPA and 350 NH will be holding a direct candidate engagement/bird dog training. This type of training helps get participants comfortable with writing and asking questions to political candidates and officials and holding them accountable for their stances on various topics.
Bird-dogging (or otherwise known as direct candidate engagement) is a powerful strategy used by activists to get candidates and elected officials on the record about important issues and to influence the topics raised in campaigns. Come to our direct candidate engagement/bird dog training to get comfortable with writing and asking questions to political candidates and officials and holding them accountable for their stances on various topics. You will educate other constituents and the media as well.
The term "bird-dog" comes from hunting; the bird-dog's job is to flush the birds out of the bushes and into the open. Politicians are like the birds--they try to keep their positions hidden behind vague rhetoric. Using tightly crafted questions, the successful bird-dog forces candidates to reveal their position on an issue.
Elisabeth Bialosky, former youth coordinator at 350NH will provide a bird-dog (or direct candidate engagement) training to help you get comfortable asking politicians the tough questions.
