The Black Artists Matter Series is a series of workshops and events in Springfield, IL celebrating Black Artists and providing multiple opportunities to support and enjoy local visual and performance art by area artists of color. .
This week features a Visual Arts Workshop presented by John T. Crisp Jr. John is a father, grandfather, teacher, musician, and artist who has instructed over 80,000 students over his many years of teaching with a plethora of teaching and learning materials. He is a co-founder of the Garvey-Tubman Cultural Arts & Research Center with more than 60 years of community service in the Springfield area. Visual Art sessions will run August 9 through August 12 from 6 pm until 8 pm each night.

The Black Artists Matter Series is a month long collaborative project between the Garvey Tubman Cultural Art and Resource Center and DIM art house in Springfield, IL. Each week features a different artist led workshop, with multiple sessions. Each session is limited to 15 attendees.
