Branching Out For Nature

Start: Saturday, March 01, 202511:00 AM

End: Saturday, March 01, 2025 3:00 PM

Join us for the launch of our brand-new Keep Forests, Don’t Deforest! booklet at Digbeth Community Garden.

Here at Birmingham Friends of the Earth we have been busy with our Keep Forests, Don't Deforest! project. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the environmental harms and human rights abuses that can occur in supply chains. Over the autumn we asked members of the public to explore the theme of deforestation through the written word or artwork. We have collated the submissions into a booklet which we will be sending to decision makers as well as using them to raise awareness of the issues.

To celebrate all the submissions and to launch the booklet, we are hosting a family friendly event on Saturday 1 March in our Community Garden in the City Centre. During this free event we'll have:

  • Speakers (11:30am - 12:30pm) : find out more about our Planet Over Profit campaign, hear from Birmingham TreePeople and the Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust about what is going on locally to preserve our woodlands.
  • Gardening activities: Learn from the people making our urban oasis thrive.
  • Storytelling (12:45pm): Professional Storyteller, Pyn Stockman, will be taking us on a forest journey. Local artists, Lucy Starkey, will be telling a children's story featuring her creations - createy and cutsie.
  • Fun Activities: Enjoy a day of hands-on family-friendly crafts, and interactive sessions.
  • Refreshments: Free hot and cold drinks and snacks.

Come celebrate our shared commitment to preserving forests at this lively outdoor event!
