Bridge Across the Climate Crisis
Start: Friday, November 29, 2019•12:00 PM
End: Friday, November 29, 2019• 2:00 PM
With the consequences of climate change becoming ever more clear and dire with each passing day, a new powerful wave of the climate movement has been swelling up over the last couple of years. Young people around the world have been rising up to defend our future, and have been going on strike – every week, all over the planet – for months. In the September Climate Strikes alone, 7.6 million people took to the streets with us.
But our movement isn't going anywhere. Now, we are preparing for the next wave of Climate Strikes.
Sign up now to be a part of the #ClimateStrike!
Organizers across the West Lafayette Climate Strikes group, Lafayette Climate, Purdue Climate Strike, the WL Go Greener Commission, and the Harrison High School Students for Environmental Protection are coming together to co-organize an event focused on making art about the climate crisis. We'll gather on the Myer Pedestrian Bridge to make art together, bridging West Lafayette, Lafayette, and Purdue, to call for climate action!
If it is above freezing and not precipitating, we will have speeches at noon, and then move into making art together at various offerings until 2 pm.
If it is below freezing or it is precipitating, we will just have speeches and a rally at noon, probably to finish by 1 pm. We will make the call about which option by 10 am that morning, and will post here, and on social media.
Please join us on Friday to demand action on the climate crisis. Bring signs if you have them. Share pictures from the strike. Please tag #FridaysForFuture, #StrikeWithUs and #ClimateStrike on social media posts.
