Bridging the Political Divide

Start: Thursday, April 05, 2018 5:00 PM

End: Thursday, April 05, 2018 7:00 PM

Think back to your last political conversation with someone on the opposite end of the ideological spectrum. Were you able to find common ground--or did you walk away feeling angry, frustrated, or hopeless?

Learn how to turn drag-out political fights into productive conversations at our next informational happy hour: Thursday, April 5 from 5-7 PM at the Irish Snug in Denver.

The divide between Americans on different ends of the political spectrum continues to grow. We increasingly live in echo chambers that reinforce our views, while simultaneously avoiding those with different political beliefs. The result is an increased sense of intolerance, resentment, and distrust for the "other."

The National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation (NCDD) works to break down these barriers by bringing together different Americans to discuss, decide, and take action on today’s toughest issues. Keiva Hummel from NCDD will join us to share best practices for talking about emotionally-heated policy topics, in order to find common ground.

This FREE event will consist of a presentation (starting at 5:30) followed by a workshop and discussion. Light refreshments will be served and drinks are available for purchase.

Please RSVP by using the form on this page. Questions? Contact Caroline at cfry@commoncause.org.

We hope to see you there!
