In honor of Armenian-American Heritage & History Month, join a panel of Armenian-American leaders on how to build Armenian-American power and the fight for an Armenian checkbox on the United States Census as an effective way to fight invisibility, marginalization and win real and needed resources for the community. Hear from former California Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian,ANCAWR Board member Anahid Oshagan, and Glendale City Clerk Dr. Suzie Abajian on why Census data and classification matters. Armenians continue to be invisibilized on the United States Census and which impacts their equal opportunity in housing, education, anti-discrimination efforts, and healthcare. Lack of classification means the community and our institutions continue to be undercounted, under-resourced, and underfunded. Learn about the fight for Armenians to be counted on the U.S. Census and making U.S. institutions finally move Armenians and our issues from margin to center.
