Cambridge - Postcards to Stop Voter Suppression - Friday 1/3/20

Start: Friday, January 03, 2020 6:30 PM

End: Friday, January 03, 2020 8:30 PM

Voter purging and other forms of voter suppression are taking away the civil rights of people of color who are being put on “inactive” or “unregistered” lists at a 16% higher rate than other voters. Reclaim Our Vote* to contact people of color in Texas and urge them to check their registration status, re-register and vote. Postcard-writing campaigns are a key part of this process.

Please join our group of friendly volunteers as we send notification postcards to voters in communities of color with information on how to check to make sure they haven’t been purged from voter rolls.

Do postcard campaigns work? Reclaim Our Vote has found a 25% increase in voter registration among those people who receive postcards. Texas is known as the "non-voting state." You can help change that.

RSVP and join us as we stamp out voter suppression for good! Drinks and snacks will be provided.

*Reclaim Our Vote is a volunteer-driven, nonpartisan voter outreach campaign organized by the Center for Common Ground of Virginia with the help of the NAACP, Black Voters Matter, DemLabs, Mi Familia Vota and others.

Handicap Accessibility: The bar is handicap accessible but there are 2 steps up to the restrooms.
