We will shortly be inundated with praise for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) by the Canadian government and mainstream media on the occasion of its 70th anniversary on April 4, 2019. But, because of Canada's membership in NATO, we have been dragged into virtually every US war from Yugoslavia to Libya, are in the thick of the US regime change operation in Venezuela, and are part of the problem - and not the solution - to the growing danger of Cold War 2.0 with both Russia and China.

Tamara Lorincz will speak in Hamilton in a free public lecture on ALL aspects of Canada's lack of independence on foreign, fiscal, and environmental policy resulting from our country's membership in NATO.

Tamara Lorincz is a PhD candidate in Global Governance at the Balsillie School for International Affairs (Wilfrid Laurier University). Tamara graduated with an MA in International Politics & Security Studies from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom in 2015. She was awarded the Rotary International World Peace Fellowship and was a senior researcher for the International Peace Bureau in Switzerland. Tamara is currently on the board of the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace and the international advisory committee of Global Network Against Nuclear Power and Weapons in Space. She is a member of the Canadian Pugwash Group and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom. Tamara was a co-founding member of the Vancouver Island Peace and Disarmament Network in 2016.

Tamara is currently on the No to NATO 2019 mobilization. In January this year, she launched a monthly protest outside the NATO Association of Canada office in Toronto. In 2011, she started the annual protest against NATO's Halifax International Security Forum, an annual event that takes place every November in Nova Scotia.

Tamara has an LLB/JSD and MBA specializing in environmental law and management from Dalhousie University. She is the former Executive Director of the Nova Scotia Environmental Network and co-founder of the East Coast Environmental Law Association.

New Vision United Church is located at 24 Main Street West, diagonally across from Hamilton City Hall where there is ample paid parking, and adjacent to the MacNab Street Transit Terminal. The church is wheelchair accessible.

Admission is free and there will be a Q&A following Lorincz's lecture.
