Candlelight Vigil in Toulouse

Start: Saturday, January 21, 2017 5:00 PM

End: Saturday, January 21, 2017 7:00 PM

We gather with our candles on Jan 21st linking to the Women's March on Washington.

We assemble in support of the United States Constitution and of the fundamental human rights enshrined within it.

We, the People, wish to safeguard freedoms threatened by the political tone of the incoming administration in Washington D.C.

We unite to support the dignity and human rights of women and all minority groups threatened by the current political climate. This includes people of color, of different sexual orientations, people with disabilities, refugees, asylum seekers, immigrants, young people seeking education without crushing debt, and families who rely on Obamacare, Medicare and Medicaid.

We support fair labor practices that include a decent minimum wage.

We unite to show support for Planet Earth--and progressive environmental initiatives to protect our natural world.

We invite all concerned citizens to join us--men and women, young and old--in a spirit of solidarity, friendship, democracy and engaged citizenship.

We honor the champions of human rights who have gone before us--and we stand up in our own times--for the values of Tolerance, Inclusion, Fairness, Freedom, Justice and Peace.

Finally, we gather to thank President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for eight years of service to our nation, eight years that have been marked by their intelligence, humanity, grace and humor.
The politics of fear and division have no place in 2017.
