Canvass/Door Knocking/NY19 in Rhinebeck and Red Hook - Doing Voter ID and Vote Pledges
Start: Saturday, July 07, 2018•10:00 AM
End: Saturday, July 07, 2018• 7:00 PM
Join UWS MoveOn/Indivisible volunteers as we go out to talk to voters in Swing District NY19 doing voter Identification and vote pledge cards to help the Democratic candidate [chosen on June 26] to defeat Faso. We'll be coordinating with NY19Votes [a local coalition] and Swing Left.
We'll meet on the UWS in NYC at 10AM to drive up to Rhinebeck by car/s to canvass/door knock the doors of Democrats, many of whom haven't voted in the midterms. Before we start canvassing, we'll be meeting with locals at 12pm at Omega Institute for lunch. On the Dining Hall porch we'll do orientation, partner up, get our turfs and materials to drive out to our start points to canvass until 5pm. We'll meet back in town to gather our results and then drive back to NYC.
If you haven’t heard of it, Swing Left is a national grassroots network that helps people take action in their closest Congressional Swing District. The goal is simple: Swing the House in the 2018 midterm elections and put a check on the Trump agenda.
Studies show that getting voters to “commit” in advance can meaningfully increase turnout, so this summer Swing Left volunteers across the country will be going out into their target Swing Districts to talk to voters, identify supporters and ask them to commit to vote in 2018.
If you have never canvassed before, this is an easy way to get started!
Swing Left will provide materials and online trainings so you have everything you need to know to have a great time and make a meaningful impact.
