Why has the working class not yet organized to overthrow capitalism, as many past socialists expected would happen? This summer's CBK DSA reading group will explore this question by reading Vivek Chibber's new book The Class Matrix, which proposes that the answer to this
question lies in the very structure inherent in capitalism itself.

The group will discuss the many themes covered in the book, including the role of culture, agency, contingency, and what might be ultimately required to congeal a working-class challenge to capitalism.

The first meeting will take place Saturday July 2nd at noon-2pm over zoom
and will meet weekly thereafter. For the first meeting, please read the book's introduction, and we'll aim to read about one chapter per week.  An email with a Zoom link will be shared to all RSVPS on day of the event.
