UPDATE: RALLY ADDED AND HEARING ROOM CHANGE: A rally for redistricting reform will take place on the east side of the Indiana Statehouse at 2:30pm before the 3:30 hearing!

HB 1014 — which "Establishes a redistricting commission to create, hold hearings on, take public comment about, and recommend plans to redraw general assembly districts and congressional districts" has earned a hearing, which will take place on February 15th at 3:30pm, in Hearing Room 404 of the Indiana Statehouse.

It is vital that we pack the hearing, and send our legislators a long-overdue and clear signal—voters are watching and we want reform.

The passing of HB 1014 would be an important step toward meaningful reform aimed to end the decades long gerrymandering of districts that continues to corrode and sabotage local and state elections.

The League of Women Voters Indianapolis and Common Cause Indiana will host a free training on how to be an effective citizen lobbyist and how to organize events back home. They will also provide talking points on HB1014 and up-to-date information on likely amendments. The training will begin at 10:30am, and will follow with lunch prior to the 2:30 rally and 3:30 hearing, where you'll have an opportunity to put your new skills to work. Can't Make it To The State House?  Not a problem. You can still make your voice heard. Please contact your state representative and tell them that you support redistricting reform and you want them to vote YES on HB 1014.
