As Citizens UK prepares for the General Election, we are repeating a series of Learning Thursday events this spring to equip leaders in member institutions across the country, as well as those from our projects such as the Living Wage Foundation, PACT and Sponsor Refugees, to participate in our General Election strategy. There is a huge amount at stake, and we want to be organised to make the biggest impact possible. These sessions originally ran in June and September 2023, and are being repeated in Spring 2024 for those who couldn't make it before.

Each Learning Thursday session will run from 16:00-17:30 and will include time for you to plan how to put your learning into practice. They are designed as a series, and while each session will be open for anyone connected with Citizens UK to attend, we are asking each chapter and project to identify 5 leaders who will commit to the full series, so that there is a critical mass of people in each part of the organisation who are fully briefed.

  • 21 March - Preparing for the General Election: What opportunities does the General Election provide Citizens UK? How are we organising to make the most of it? How can leaders get involved?
  • 28 March - MP engagement: We don't have to wait until the election campaign to start engaging our MPs and their main challengers - this session will help equip you to build relationships with them with confidence.
  • 18 April - Voter ID: Another barrier to participation in the General Election is the new requirement for every voter to take photo ID to the polling station. We'll help you understand the new rules and support you to make sure that everyone in your community knows what they need to do to cast their vote on election day.

You will be sent a link once you have registered.

We look forward to you joining us!
