The Climate and Nature Bill, first introduced by Caroline Lucas, is heading to its Second Reading in parliament on 24 January 2025.

After a devastating year that the UN Secretary General called 'a masterclass in human destruction' we have a chance to make 2025 the year that the UK adopts this world-leading legislation written by scientists. The CAN Bill will make the UK's existing international agreements on climate and nature (made at the Paris climate COP in 2015 and the Montreal biodiversity COP in 2022) legally binding, and ensure that we achieve these key commitments by 2030. At present we are not on track and this government is the last one that can deliver them before the deadline.

In order for the cross-party Bill to succeed on 24 January it needs 102 supporting MPs to vote for it. Please email your MP and ask them to attend the debate and back this landmark legislation.
