Climate Emergency Hustings, Wirral West

Start: Friday, December 06, 2019 7:30 PM

End: Friday, December 06, 2019 9:30 PM

Come to the Wirral West Climate Emergency Hustings to hear from prospective MPs about their Party's plans to tackle the Climate Emergency.

We are facing a climate emergency. At 1 degree of warming we’re already seeing the alarming effects of climate breakdown: in the UK we’re facing devastating floods and unprecedented heatwaves, and overseas people from some of the world’s poorest countries are having to flee their homes due to extreme weather. Every small increase in global temperatures means more flooding and food shortages and more species on the brink of extinction.

It's essential that the Government we elect on Thursday 12 December shows leadership and ambition to tackle climate change at the pace and scale demanded by the scientific evidence.

This hustings is organised by Liverpool Friends of the Earth and Friends of the Earth EWNI. We are politically impartial and have invited all nominated parliamentary candidates, and will ensure they all have an equal chance to contribute on the night.

Candidates will each give a short introductory speech about how, if elected, they will use their position in Parliament to work to avert climate breakdown. Candidates will then be asked two introductory questions by the organisers before participating in a Q&A with the audience.

Come along and judge for yourself how climate-friendly Wirral West’s prospective MPs are!

This is a free event but please RSVP so we have an idea of numbers.

You will have the chance to submit a question for candidates as you complete your booking form. Please note that not all questions will be selected. There will be further opportunities to ask questions on the night.
