Climate, Floods, Fires & Storms: Blame Wall Street! Stop Funding Fossil Fuels
Start: Friday, January 20, 2023• 3:30 PM
Rally with us in Hollywood as we join events across the country in a national day of action to call attention to the Big Banks - Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and others - role in the climate crisis. They continue to fund horrific infrastructure projects like the Keystone and Dakota Access pipelines that have despoiled ecosystems with spills and industrialization, violated Native sovereignty, whose mancamps have caused Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women MMIW, and further destabilized the climate. We are calling on President Biden to declare a climate emergency, take bold climate action, and stop approving fossil fuel projects which sacrifice our frontline, Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities to the greed of Big Oil & Gas.
Frontline communities face the brunt of health impacts from fossil fuel extraction and infrastructure, including respiratory diseases, cancer, and premature births. We need a just transition to renewable transportation and clean power generation, while creating millions of high-quality union jobs.
This day of action is Indigenous-led and organized by a partnership of climate, environmental justice, frontline, and Indigenous organizations.
This year, our movement and our world lost Los Angeles social justice activist Lawrence Reyes and Indigenous leader Joye Braun. We are calling water protectors across Turtle
Island to take action in both Lawrence and Joye’s honor on January 20th - which is not
only Biden’s second anniversary in office, but Joye’s birthday and the
second anniversary of the end of the Keystone XL pipeline.
Join us: Raise your voice to call for bold action and climate justice!
