Climate change is often portrayed as a highly politicised economic issue; but fundamentally, climate change is a health issue. Climate change causes disease and it makes us sick. Climate change can kill us.
This presentation will show that we can treat it. We can treat climate change like we treat any other life-threatening condition. We can act to reduce the health threats and to prepare ourselves for our changed world. We can stop making it worse and we can try to repair the damage we have made.
Climate Medicine is dedicated to treating the health effects of climate change. Dr Kate Wylie is a General Practitioner and climate activist who sees climate medicine as her passion. She approaches climate change as she would any other health issue, looking at its causes, effects and how to create a 'treatment plan'.
So, while climate change is scary and overwhelming: a global problem on a massive scale, we are urged to face up to it so we can act to save ourselves and all the beauteous wonder of our amazing world. Our planet is worth saving and so are we.
