Close Suncor Action - Demand Clean Air in Denver
Start: Thursday, September 26, 2019• 5:30 PM
End: Thursday, September 26, 2019• 8:00 PM
On September 26, we are taking action against the Suncor Energy Refinery, which is one of the biggest polluters in Colorado. Suncor has consistently violated permits and polluted the air in Denver, especially near the GES and Commerce City area, without any significant repercussions. Suncor emits 800,000 TONS of toxic pollutants every year, which have serious effects on the health of those living in close proximity to the refinery.
This is not acceptable. We are demanding that our elected officials act immediately to end this destructive behavior and implement a just transition for Suncor’s workers, so we can all breathe easier and preserve the planet for our children. The transition to a clean energy economy is an opportunity for our country to take a global leadership role in fighting climate change, while creating millions of good jobs, and strengthening those communities facing the worst effects of the climate crisis in the process. Join us for music, dancing, and food as we fight for clean air and demand our representatives stand up for people and the planet by taking action against Suncor.
Join us for live music from Mariachi Juvenil de Mexico and food from Mesquite Grill.
Please note that this event is family-friendly and children are welcome to participate. Contact Sunni Benoit at sunnis99@gmail.com or Maryah Lauer at mlauer@foe.org if you have any questions or need additional information.
To change everything, it’s going to take everyone.
