Last Saturday’s extradition of Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab to the U.S. has threatened the ongoing dialogue between the Venezuelan government and opposition.

Imagine the outrage if President Maduro had arrested a Guaidó ally in the middle of negotiations. Well, the Biden administration knew that the dialogue could fall apart if they extradited Saab. Saab is being targeted because he’s one of the architects of Venezuela’s policies to overcome the U.S. blockade.
