Thomas and Claire manage a 25-acre mixed organic smallholding in Gleann na Gealt, Camp, Co. Kerry. They believe that everyone should have access to safe, healthy, nutritious and delicious food. In 2007 they set up their organic farm to grow nutritionally dense and tasty vegetables. Thomas and Claire sell all of their produce including vegetables, wheatgrass, eggs and poultry in their shop in Tralee. They are involved with Transition Kerry and Talamh Beo and are a great example of diverse food production and biodiversity production, all on marginal land, really showcasing what is possible.
This 2 hour event includes a walk around the farm with Thomas, farmer, a look at some of the habitats and species on the farm, as well as the livestock and crops. There will be plenty of time to discus how the farm is managed in support of nature with Thomas and to ask questions.
This farm walk is for farmers and individuals interested in food production and the food system. Suitable rain gear and footwear for uneven and potentially muddy conditions will be required.
