Creating Strong Narratives

What: In this two part Race Class Narrative (RCN) workshop, we’ll reground you in the RCN framework, then dive into practice, drafting issue-specific messages with language, culture, and style that resonate in your community, and getting feedback on strong communications practices that include race and class at every step.
- Part 1: Intro to RCN, Walkthrough the RCN architecture; Practice.
- Part 2: Write a full RCN Narrative with lots of feedback and time to rewrite.
When: There will be two sessions which will take place on:
- Wednesday, September 18, 1:00pm - 4:00pm ET / 10:00am - 1:00pm PT
- Wednesday, September 25, 1:00pm - 4:00pm ET / 10:00am - 1:00pm PT
This workshop is interactive and has a 100% attendance requirement where you are ready to dedicate three hours for each of the two sessions and an additional hour for work between the two sessions.
Creating Strong Narratives is an in-depth training, designed for folks who are ready to use RCN. The workshop does not dive deep into the RCN data and audience strategy. Please apply only if you are able to attend both sessions and previously attended an RCN Foundations (or similar) training.

Technology Needs: Zoom, a computer with working speakers, mic, keyboard, mouse/trackpad, and (tablets and cell phones are not recommended) and high speed internet for participation in interactive activities.
Workshop Goals:
- Apply lessons learned from the RCN research on how to take on race in our communications, messaging and conversation.
- Become familiar with the RCN architecture.
- Increase skill in creating effective messages with RCN.
- Build confidence for how to name race, class, and genders in communications.
