Our Right to Counsel bill H.B. 6531 is officially headed to Governor Lamont’s office to be signed, making Connecticut one of the first states in the country to pass statewide legislation guaranteeing tenants facing eviction with the right to legal representation!!! It truly cannot be emphasized how important of an accomplishment this is, especially with landlords continuing to refuse to participate in rental assistance programs, as well as the lifting of eviction moratoriums on the horizon. Most importantly, it could not have happened without everyone who organized, mobilized, & took action throughout the campaign! Whether you testified at the public hearing, made phone calls to your state reps, hosted a community event, signed onto a letter, or shared links & amplified the campaign, your involvement was crucial to this incredible win.
