This session is for your data officers, aspiring data analysis experts, and others who feel a solid grounding in data protection and analysis will benefit them.

We'll cover:

• Data protection: a guide to what you need to know, including your legal obligations on data protection, how and when to train activists on that, and what to do if you ever experience a problem
• Data management: making the data work for you! We'll cover using it to contact sub-sets of voters (and when you can't), what information is most valuable to keep (and what you can do well without) and how to use it to maximise your campaigning effectiveness
• Data analysis skills: working out how to tell how well you're doing electorally based on the data you have
• Data storage: a run through of Green Party best practice on spreadsheets

The first part of this session, on data protection and analysis, is aimed at all local parties. The final section on spreadsheets may not be relevant if your local party runs NationBuilder, EARS or another non-spreadsheet method of data storage that you're happy with. If that's you, there'll be an exit point for you to leave the session then.

After the session, resources will be sent out, including a model data protection agreement and guides for your activists.
