MVMT-LA: Day of Silence and Self-Reflection
Start: Tuesday, April 21, 2020•10:00 AM
RSVP FOR THE FULL WEEK OF ACTION HERE!
Today the International Indigenous Youth Council Socal Chapter and Movement 2020 lead a day of silence to go inward and reflect. This day is for you to get your mind, body, spirit connection prepared for the bigger work ahead. In Indigenous ways, we believe the health of our planet reflects the health of the people. We can not do this work if we are not right ourselves. Take this day in silence for yourself and Unci Maka (Mother Earth) and prepare.
On April 21st, join the IIYC SoCal as they kick off Earth Week with a day of Self Reflection. Join member Alexis Saenz with a grounding meditation at 10am PST to guide you with starting your connection to self for the day.
At 12pm PST April 21st, IIYC SoCal will be having a mass moment of silence for Mother Earth, Missing Murdered Indigneous Womxn and Relatives and for those who have lost their lives fighting for the Climate Justice Movement. Please join us for a ten minute moment of silence at 12pm. If you want to take a longer moment of silence or the entire day post the flyer in silent solidarity.
At 2pm PST April 21st, IIYC SoCal member Yulu Fuentes will be facilitating a journaling session with prompts to ground to our soul purpose. Why are you a part of this environmental justice movement? Understanding that all life is interdependently related, how are you a symbiotic member of the ecosystem you inhabit? What can you do everyday as an individual to empower this collective movement? We must ask ourselves these questions to ensure that we act with intention and purpose and to also sustain ourselves in our organizing.
In the Indigenous way of life, water is our sacred relative. We are made up of mostly water and we can not live without it. A water ceremony is our way of giving back to the water with our prayers and offerings to show our gratitude. Our water ceremonies often include prayers for the healing for the waters. Just like with our earth mother we take responsibility for respecting all sacred elements. Water is life. Join us for a Water Ceremony led by Tina Calderoun and her family at 6PM PST.
