This summer, climate change intensified weather events around the world and we witnessed a surge of deadly disasters. Heatwaves, severe storms, and disastrous flooding have not ceased and will continue to ruin communities across the globe. The Global South and BIPOC communities experience disproportionate effects of the climate crisis, despite the fact that people outside of these communities are responsible for the crisis. The ruling class from the Global North knowingly sacrifices marginalized people and their ecosystems in order to gain profit. We must hold them accountable, demand action, and return political power to the people. That’s why we’re striking on September 23rd for climate reparations and justice. It’s time for policymakers and world leaders to prioritize #PeopleNotProfit.
