Join us for a December Zero Waste Celebration!
This event is a chance to share and engage around the zero waste work already happening all over Minnesota, and in a zero waste vision for the 2025 legislative session. Through showcasing zero waste champions, engaging discussions, and interactive activities, we aim to inspire more participation in this growing movement and uplift the community perspective that informs our work. By drastically reducing waste, conserving resources, and cutting emissions, zero waste is a true solution to the climate crisis that leads us toward a healthier and cleaner world for all!
The event will include:
- State Representative Athena Hollins, a zero waste champion, on this critical moment
- Community groups leading the zero waste movement through food rescue, reduction, reuse, repair, and environmental justice
- Action stations featuring engaging activities-- mending, clothing swap, printmaking, and art builds!
- Dinner from Pimiento! (Free)
- A brief overview of our 2025 state Zero Waste Policy Platform and how the closure of the HERC trash burner is creating a major opportunity to shift how we deal with waste. This will be followed by small group discussions on how to improve and empower this platform
Join us!
*Bring plain shirts or tote bags for printmaking!
*Bring clothing that needs light mending, or clothes to swap!
*Masks encouraged (we will have some on site)*
*Childcare provided
Minnesota Zero Waste Coalition
Who We Are:
We are an alliance of Minnesota-based organizations, environmental justice advocates, waste experts, sustainable waste service providers, and community members committed to advancing a future for Minnesota without waste.
Our movement centers the voices and experiences of frontline communities, who are most negatively and directly impacted by the extraction of resources, production of goods, and disposal of waste. With equitable zero-waste solutions, more people will have access to clean air, fresh water, green jobs, and healthier neighborhoods. Learn More.
What We Stand For:
