Indivisible Downtown Decatur for Affordable Health Care

Start: Saturday, February 25, 2017 1:15 PM

This is basically nothing more than way for downtown Decatur natives/anyone on the east side to travel as a group to the Atlanta March for Healthcare in downtown. The march itself is 1.4 miles from the United Methodist Church in midtown to Woodruff Park in downtown Atlanta.

1.4 miles is a bit of a slog for some people so we'll be traveling by MARTA in two groups:

MARCHERS for people who want to participate in the 1.4 mile march from UMC church to Woodruff Park

NON-MARCHERS for those who would prefer going directly to the park. LA

MARCHERS will be assembling at Sycamore Square between 1:15-1:40pm to walk 2 blocks to the Decatur MARTA Station and taking the train from there to arrive at the UMC Methodist Church in midtown by  2:45pm.
The march will begin at 3:00pm.

NON-MARCHERS  will leave Sycamore Square at 2:40pm to reach the park by 3:30pm. Marchers are expected to arrive at the park between 3:30 and 4:00.

Round trip MARTA fare is $5.00 if you already have a Breeze card. $6 if you don't. There is street parking along Sycamore St. east of Commerce and parking in downtown is free on Saturdays.

Details on the march itself are on the OurRevolution.com website under Atlanta March for Healthcare. Just click on the link.

Weather is forecasted to be in the low 60's with sunshine.

Why should you go?

  1. Because you care about affordable health care for all and the GOP plan isn't even a plan.
  2. Because you care about Democracy and last week Woodruff Park was taken over by a Trump "Rally" of 6  Trump supporters armed with semi-automatic weapons.

They have a constitutional right to demonstrate. We have a constitutional right to respond.

Our goal is to have hundreds of non-violent protesters who don't have Uzis show up this week.

Because LOVE WINS.
