A Panel on Union Reform with Union Reformers

Amid the devastation brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic fallout, labor has an opening to lead a mass movement towards a just recovery for the working class. Yet this is also precisely the moment when organized labor is at its weakest, after decades of corporate attacks and neoliberal policymaking--and for UAW members, a pivotal moment for the future of our own union.
How can workers turn the tide that has for decades decimated organized labor in the US? How can workers rebuild a powerful labor movement to fight back against austerity? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the models proposed for building worker power?
Join DSA-LA's Labor Committee and UAW 2865 for a moderated discussion with labor organizers from UAW, CTU, CWA, and Bargaining for the Common Good about union reform and the future of labor.
Panelists:
- Jenny Worley - author of Neon Girls and currently President of AFT 2121 (SF City College Faculty)
- Steve Lawton - President of CWA Local 1102
- Mike Canon (UAW)
- Jackson Potter (CTU)
