East Portland Community Forum on I-205 Tolling

Start: Saturday, December 02, 2023 4:00 PM

End: Saturday, December 02, 2023 6:00 PM

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is proposing a toll for motorists driving on I-205 to raise revenue for the Abernathy Bridge and other freeway and bridge projects. This proposal will impact the traffic congestion, street safety, air quality, and livability of the neighborhoods along and near 82nd Avenue.

This weekend, I invite you to attend or email comments at a special listening session with the Joint Transportion Subcommittee on Transportation Planning to hear comments on tolling the I-205 freeway. Your input will help shape ODOT’s proposals, influence decision-makers, and help me form a strong vision for transportation investments in our community and our state.

East Portland Community Forum on I-205 Tolling
Saturday, December 2, 2023
4:00 - 6:00 PM

PCC Southeast campus, Community Hall Annex**
2305 SE 82nd Ave, Portland, OR 97216

PCC Southeast is accessible via the FX2 and 72 TriMet bus lines. The entrance to the Community Hall Annex faces Division between SE 77th and SE 79th, behind a small building.

This is a crucial moment for policy conversations around transportation funding, both locally and statewide. Tolling can be a tool to fund critical needs like safety, road maintenance, and public transit–but we have to do it equitably, reducing impacts on communities along 82nd Ave. To be climate-friendly, we cannot use the toll revenue as a new slush fund for more freeway building projects, and we must prioritize public transit and safety projects. My colleagues and I need to hear from East Portland residents on how new tolling revenue should be prioritized for road maintenance, street safety, and public transit projects versus continued freeway expansion.
