Election Action: Demand a climate jobs plan for Chisholm

Start: Tuesday, May 17, 202212:00 PM

End: Wednesday, May 18, 202212:00 PM

This election is absolutely critical for our climate and future. We need a government who will commit to a plan ambitious enough to match the scale of the climate and economic crises we face at the speed necessary to avert disaster.

We are escalating and demanding that Coalition candidates and MPs improve their current targets and policies and commit to a climate and jobs plan this election – the Climate Jobs Guarantee. A Climate Jobs Guarantee would solve the health and climate crisis by creating thousands of good jobs and putting people to work doing what's needed to care for our communities, and it would also prepare for and prevent future crises.

We will be protesting in the electorate of Chisholm, which is crucial this election as it is one of the most marginal seats in the country. Join Tomorrow Movement outside one of the pre-polling booths in Mount Waverley as we rally and ask Liberal MP Gladys Liu if she will commit to a climate plan to secure a better future for all of us, or if her government is going to keep siding with big business and fossil fuel billionaires.

We know that many undecided voters make their mind up on the day, and we want to make sure that climate is at the forefront of people's minds as they go in to cast their vote.

This is why we will be holding the space for 24 hours, from noon on Tuesday 17 May until noon on Wednesday 18 May. There will be speeches and songs, and opportunities to chat to Tomorrow Movement members about our plans for this election and beyond. Everybody is welcome to come and join us at any time throughout this period, and stay for as long as they want (even overnight!).

RSVP by entering your details and we will be in touch with more details about what to expect on the day.

Please also click attending on this Facebook event, as this is where we will post any updates on the day: https://fb.me/e/drjORPtg0.

This action is open to the public and no past experience with Tomorrow Movement is required, so feel free to invite all of your friends, young or old. If you would like to come and meet some of the folks in the movement beforehand and help us prepare for this action by painting banners, join us at our crafternoon on Sunday 15th May from 1:30pm in Thornbury.
