Kansas has lost to date over $2B in federal funds, including its own tax-payer money, to states that chose to expand Medicaid under the ACA. Expanding KanCare, our privatized Medicaid program, is a fiscally responsible Kansas-based solution that will cover over 50,000 residents in Kansas 3rd district and in the process, help create jobs, protect rural hospitals and improve the health of Kansans.

This is where we are:

• The House passed a budget that made drastic cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and other safety net programs
• 15 days past the deadline, the House still hasn’t reauthorized CHIP
• The Senate is silent on trying to shore up ACA marketplaces and
• Trump signed an executive order to stop Cost Sharing Reduction payments to insurers to cover deductibles and co-pays for low-income households. This move pretty much guarantees insurance premiums will rise for everyone.
