Where can Humboldt County get the renewable energy we need to replace fossil fuels?

Join us for “Exploring Renewable Energy Futures in Humboldt County,” on Monday, August 9, at 7:00 p.m, on Zoom. Energy researcher Amin Younes will look at how we can develop renewable electricity in Humboldt over the coming decade. He’ll examine costs, benefits, and community perceptions, and look at offshore wind, solar, and biomass possibilities, reviewing CO2 emissions, job creation, and more.

Amin is a fellow at the Schatz Energy Research Center where he studies Humboldt’s offshore wind resource, options to improve our connection to the statewide grid, and other local energy issues. He is a former member of the Redwood Coast Energy Authority’s Community Advisory Committee and a graduate of Humboldt State University’s Energy Technology and Policy graduate program.

This event is cosponsored by the Northcoast Environmental Center, 11th Hour, Cooperation Humboldt, and Climate Action Campaign of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

We believe this is crucial information as we seek to decarbonize our Humboldt lifestyles!
