Join the Labor-Religion Coalition to learn how you and your community can help safeguard democracy and push back against Citizens United by engaging with the small-donor Public Campaign Finance Program (PCFP). This brand new New York State program amplifies small contributions by matching donations to candidates for statewide office and state senate and assembly up to 12 times their value—give $10 to your legislative candidate of choice and they’ll receive $120; give $250 and they’ll get $2,550.

In these often-dark times, engaging with PCFP is a positive way to collectively flex our power, stand up for democracy, and ensure that candidates remain accountable to their constituents, not big donors.

During this hour-long lunchtime event, you’ll learn how the program works, how it can strengthen democracy in our state, and why it’s essential to engage with it now—those who benefit from the status quo could still try to weaken or eliminate this program before it starts. That’s why we’re trying to get the word out now: to keep this important counter to Citizens United going strong. PCFP offers a tangible way to ensure that our government remains accountable and responsive to all New Yorkers, not just the wealthy and well-connected. After talking and answering questions about the program, we'll spend the rest of our time calling our elected officials and letting them know why we think funding the Public Campaign Finance program is critical now more than ever.

The Labor-Religion Coalition is doing this work as part of the Fair Elections for New York Coalition, which helped secure PCFP's passage in 2020. We look forward to seeing you there!
