Faiths for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty
Start: Thursday, June 02, 2022• 7:30 PM
End: Thursday, June 02, 2022• 9:30 PM
Oil, gas and coal are the root cause of the climate crisis, and are responsible for over 75% of all greenhouse gas emissions. Despite this life-threatening reality and decades of clear warnings from the scientific community, there is no binding mechanism to limit their production.
That is why more than 800 religious leaders and people of diverse faiths from around the globe are coming together with over 100 Nobel Laureates, including the Dalai Lama, major cities, and over 2,500 scientists and academics to call for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Join us for a reception with hearty appetizers and Swedish guitarist Göran Lindelöw to learn more about religious support for the Treaty Initiative, and to learn about Faiths for Climate Justice - a multi-faith week of climate action between 2-9 October calling for an end to new fossil fuel and deforestation projects, a managed, equitable decline in fossil fuel production, and a just transition to a sustainable future.
