Families Belong Together-- Salt Lake City, UT

Start: Thursday, June 14, 2018 6:00 PM

End: Thursday, June 14, 2018 8:00 PM

Facebook Event: tinyurl.com/slcfamilies

We have organized a unifying event across Salt Lake City in an effort to increase awareness and discuss tangible ways of helping our immigrant communities. This effort is unique in its partnership with various activist groups, non-profit organizations working within the community, the places of faith taking in those in need of sanctuary, people supporting those impacted, and most importantly, those who have been directly impacted. Together we are vowing to work together and to take a stand against what is happening to immigrants, refugees and asylees in our country.

SALT LAKE CITY EVENT: FAMILIES BELONG TOGETHER

MEETING LOCATION: Wallace F. Bennet Federal Building, 125 South State Street

THIS EVENT IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ALLIES TO USE OUR PRESENCE AND OUR VOICE AT THE DETENTION FACILITY. MANY PEOPLE FROM THE IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY HAVE BEEN TRAUMATIZED AT THIS FACILITY OR ARE STILL AT RISK BECAUSE OF AGENTS WITHIN THIS FACILITY, IT'S IMPERATIVE THAT WE STAND FOR THEM (HOWEVER, THIS IS OPEN TO EVERYONE AND OUR IMPACTED COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE WILL BE SUPPORTED). THIS WILL BE A PEACEFUL EVENT WITH A STRONG MESSAGE FOR THE LEADERS IN OUR STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. WE WILL NOT BE SILENT WITNESSES TO THESE ATROCITIES. WE WILL STAND AND FIGHT AGAINST THESE ACTIONS.
