Pipeline giant Williams Companies is trying to move forward with its newly proposed 54-mile “Southeast Supply Enhancement Project.” This would be added to its existing pipelines, also known as the Transco pipeline system, which would start in Virginia and cross multiple North Carolina counties and require multiple polluting gas compressor station units.

Part of the federal review of the proposed pipeline project includes a “scoping” period for the public to share specific concerns about the impacts of the project. The federal agency reviewing the project, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, will host two in-person scoping meetings on June 24 in Lexington, North Carolina, and on June 25 in Chatham, Virginia, and we hope you can attend.

The meetings are a chance to share how new methane gas infrastructure would affect your community and to share specific concerns about impacts to streams, rivers, cultural and historical resources. Add your voice to push back against new pipelines that pollute our air, harm our water and add to the climate crisis!
