In honor of Black History Month, we're screening Suppressed: The Fight To Vote, to talk about the long history of voter suppression that has targeted Black Americans and marginalized communities -- and that continues to persist today.

We'll be joined by Sean Morales-Doyle, Senior Counsel, Democracy, Brennan Center for Justice to discuss the film and the current state of voting rights.

Suppressed: The Fight to Vote recounts Stacey Abrams' historic 2018 run for Governor of Georgia, where many residents struggled to cast their ballot. Instead of electing Stacey Abrams the state's first Black woman Governor, the rampant tactics that prevented students and people of color from voting made headlines. This film is a wake-up call for the challenges we'll face in 2020 and how much still needs to be done to end voter suppression in the U.S.
