Fish to Frogs and Beyond - A Presentation About Biodiversity

Start: Wednesday, November 13, 2024 7:00 PM

End: Wednesday, November 13, 2024 9:30 PM

Location:Longlands TavernWestern Road, Stourbridge, DY8 3XU GB

You are invited to join us for a fascinating and illuminating talk about biodiversity by our Dudley member, Stephen Price.

Stephen studied wildlife disease for ten years.
He researched a group of viruses causing mass die-offs of frogs, salamanders, and sometimes, reptiles and fish. Through field, lab and computational work he learned how mutations, climate and
human translocations have contributed and synergised to explain the spread of infection
and severity of disease outbreaks.
This talk will take you on a tour of garden ponds of England, mountains of Spain and labs in
the USA and China with a dose of Stephen Fry and a hint of Howard Marks! Please join us for
a mix of tales of the fun to be had when studying science and a case study of the ecological
challenges bombarding our biodiversity.

Please note, this will be held in an upstairs room with no lift or wheelchair access. Please let us know if you have any mobility needs so we may investigate the possibility of changing the venue.
