Flint-America's Water Crisis
Start: Friday, October 27, 2023• 7:00 PM
End: Friday, October 27, 2023• 8:30 PM
The Flint water crisis is not over. Since 2014, thousands of Flint residents have not had safe water for drinking, cooking, and bathing. Can you imagine not being able to use the water that comes out of the faucet where you live? Can you imagine paying for water that you cannot use?
Flint residents live with the daily harsh reminder that environmental justice is often elusive, and officials whose job is to protect residents sometimes don’t get it right. However, we can educate ourselves about the issues and hold leaders accountable to us and our communities.
The Women's Equity Center and Action Network (WE CAN) is pleased to continue our partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ~ Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter (PEO) to explore the ongoing water crisis in Flint (and other places in the U.S.) and how to prevent it from happening again.
We plan to screen a PBS FRONTLINE documentary, Flint’s Deadly Water (see trailer below). We will be joined by environmental justice and health experts to answer your questions and share what we can do to protect ourselves, our families, and our environment.
