Florida Rights Restoration Advocacy Day - 1/30/2018

Start: Tuesday, January 30, 2018 9:00 AM

FRRC - DAY ON THE HILL

-Frequently asked questions-

Do I have to register for this event?

Yes. EVERYONE who is attending Advocacy Day needs to register in advance.

The Deadline to register for this event is January 24th 5:00 pm

Is this an all-day event?

Yes. This is an all-day event. People will leave from their locations and arrive in Tallahassee at 9:00 AM. Our group will have a breakfast-training before visiting elected officials. The day will include a “listen and learn” lunch at the Capitol and end with a rally on the Capitol steps. People will then return home.

How do I get there?

There are several ways to get there. One, people who have registered can meet us at 9:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee. Two, people can meet at one of at least two FRRC buses that will be travelling to Tallahassee as a group. A bus will leave from Tampa. A bus will leave from Treasure Coast. And a bus will leave from Orlando. If you are taking a bus, you will be assigned a bus captain who will help you with the specifics and logistics.

What if I want to stay overnight, or get there early?

If people want to stay at a hotel on their own, we simply ask that they make sure to register for the event and meet us at the First Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee at 9:00 AM. The buses are leaving Tallahassee after our Rally on the Capitol Steps. If you want to stay, you can pay for your room, but please make sure you have transportation back home.

Is the dress code?

No. That said, we do believe in letting the voice of our directly impacted leaders and family members break down the walls and labels many still have of returning citizens. Therefore, we are asking people to dress in a professional or business casual, and in a way that shows people we are meeting that we take these issues seriously and that they are important. For the ladies, make sure to wear comfortable shoes since we will be walking a lot. We will be providing FRRC shirts to everyone at the Capitol Steps Rally.

What should I bring?

Bring an open mind!!  Energy. Snacks (food will be provided). Energy. We will not be leaving items on the bus. A light blanket, coats. Tallahassee is colder.

How will I know what meetings I have in Tallahassee?

Based on where you live, we will set up meetings on your behalf with elected officials. Any and all scheduling information will be fully communicated with you before you travel to Tallahassee, and unpacked further during our training session.

How much does this cost?

FREE!!!!!!!!!!!
