Are you looking for guidance on improving (or starting) your farm's food safety program?

CAFF is offering a 4 week online course to help you determine food safety risks on your farm, prepare for Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) compliance, create (or update) your food safety plan, and understand best postharvest food safety practices. This course will be 100% electronic with required weekly meetings. Exact day/time of weekly meetings will be confirmed once everyone has registered. We will likely hold one weekly meeting on Sunday afternoons and another on Tuesday.

Tentative weekly meeting dates will be:

January 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th

You must own, actively be responsible for food safety decisions on a farm, and/or have direct farming experience. Attendance at all four classes is required. Access to a computer is required.

Here is an overview of the content that will be covered in each of the modules:

Module 1: Intro, Risk Assessments, & Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) 101

Module 2: Food Safety Plans

Module 3: FSMA vs. 3rd Party Audits vs. Organic Regulations

Module 4: Postharvest Best Practices & Conclusion

There will be homework to do on your own time in between weekly class meetings. The course will be kept small so each farmer can receive lots of direct assistance from CAFF. If you think the course would be a great fit for you, please register!

The course is free and weekly virtual meetings will occur on zoom. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate.

Course registration closes January 4th, 2022.
