Gary Mahoney Memorial Debate: Climate Change and the Media

Start: Thursday, June 06, 2019 7:30 PM

End: Thursday, June 06, 2019 9:15 PM

The fifth in our annual series of debates, held in tribute to the exceptional environmental scientist and campaigner Gary Mahoney, who died in late 2014.

The provisional title for this year's Debate is 'A Climate of Truth, Lies or Secrecy? - How Climate Change and other environmental concerns are treated by the media.'

It will take place in the Pearce Room at the Britannia Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool on Thursday 6 June at 7.30pm - preceded by informal networking as the monthly Green Drinks Liverpool session is held in the Adelphi's Wave Bar from 6pm.

An informal evening, largely based around questions from the floor, which we hope will make an important contribution to discussion of vital and topical environmental and social concerns.

Panellists:

  • Helen Pidd, North of England EditorThe Guardian [Chair]
  • Kevin Gopal, Editor, Big Issue North
  • Dr Neil Gavin, Senior lecturer in Politics, University of Liverpool.

This event is co-hosted by Merseyside Environmental Trust and supported by Faiths4Change and Philosophy in Pubs.
