GCAE will hold a Vigil to Keep Watch for Our Public Schools! Guilford County will not sleep while the NCGA attempts to dismantle our public schools. Participants should meet at the GCAE Office at 4:15 to park and gather for a procession to the Old Guilford County Courthouse. Participants are encouraged to wear red with a black hat, scarf, wrap, etc. During the procession, participants will be carrying flowers that will be added to a display at the courthouse. Extra flowers welcome! Upon arrival at the courthouse, we will hold the vigil & rally to push the Board of County Commissioners to fund the Board of Education’s budget request and push the NC General Assembly to stop voucher expansion in the state. GCAE members will deliver a 2300-signature petition to the Board of County Commissioners.

Rally Plan:

4:15 PM - Meet and park at GCAE Office for a processional to the Old Guilford County Courthouse. (0.5 miles)

4:45 PM - Rally in front of the Old Guilford County Courthouse (301 West Market Street)

5:25 PM - Enter the courthouse for the Board of County Commissioners Budget Public Hearing.

5:30 PM - BOCC Meeting begins
