Want to get grubby and make a positive difference to our countryside and wildlife? Then join our enthusiastic and friendly team of hedgerow planting volunteers (no experience or equipment needed) to help plant a brand-new stretch of hedgerow near Hartfield on the Ashdown Forest, East Sussex.
What you will be doing
- Practical, hands-on tasks e.g. digging and planting
- Volunteering alongside others as part of a team
- Learning new skills and meeting new people
The skills you need
- A keen interest in the countryside and environmental skills
- The ability to undertake moderate physical activity
What do I need to bring
There will be some refreshments provided but please bring along a pack lunch, snacks, water to drink and we suggest a flask to enjoy a hot drink during breaks in the planting.
Although, gloves and spades will be provided, if you have them, please bring them along to help us out.
We'll do our best to co-ordinate lift sharing if you need a lift, please contact Lesley.
Weather at this time of year can be challenging but please bear in mind that we need to get the whips in the ground asap and planting sessions will go ahead unless the weather is truly dreadful such as storms, icy conditions, snow, high winds.
