Hike to "Birds Eye View" Timber sale

DNR is planning to clearcut 182 acres in the “Birds Eye View” timber sale in 2028. This forest is on the banks of the Strait of Juan de Fuca in Clallam County. Join the Center for Responsible Forestry and Elwha Legacy Forest Coalition at Salt Creek Recreation Area for a moderate on-trail hike to see this legacy forest.

Date and Time: Sunday May 26th from 10 am to 2:30 pm.

Location: Salt Creek Recreation Area Striped Peak Trailhead.

From Port Angeles follow US 101 west for 5 miles to State Route 112. Turn right on SR 112, heading west for just over 7 miles. Turn right (north) onto Camp Hayden Road, following it 3.5 miles to Salt Creek County Park. Enter the park, pass the entrance booth, and immediately turn right for trailhead parking.

Length: 4 miles on trail, 283 feet elevation gain.

What to Bring: Weather appropriate clothing, trekking poles, waterproof footwear, drinking water, snacks.
