Jewish Greens, with support from other Green Party special groups, invite you to join us for our Holocaust Memorial Day event, which will be held online, at 17:30 on Sunday 14th January 2024, hearing the story of Tootje (Cato) Granaat,  their experience in the Nazi Holocaust and the growing persecution that led to it.

Their story will be told by their daughter Melanie Martin, from the organisation Generation to Generation.

The meeting will be chaired by Green Party Migration and Refugee Support spokesperson, and Islington Councillor, Benali Hamdache.

Holocaust Memorial Day is an event to remember genocides throughout history and around the world, and work to ensure they never happen again. Sadly, we know looking around our world that acts of genocide are not a thing of the past, far less racism, prejudice and intolerance. Part of these memorialisation events is about hearing the stories of survivors, how societies become disfigured to the extent that they carry out the most appalling crimes. It is also hearing how people survived and families endured. This is important for all groups that wish to shape society and exert political power, including the Green Party.

This is event is supported by Green Party special interest groups and other groups including LGBTIQA+ Greens, Green Party Trade Union Group, GRT (Gypsy, Roma, Traveller) Policy Working Group and Feminist Greens.

More information about the genocides commemorated on this day, and the stories of survivors, can be found at these websites:
